Saskatchewan earmarked $1.2 millions for WNV in 2003, 1 million to help municipalities who follow their mosquito reduction and education guidelines and $200,000 for emergency control
Plan:
Education (mosquitoes and mosquito repellents- recommended by Health Canada)
Breeding habitat control at home
Bti use by municipalities and, in last resort, malathion spraying.

Rural municipalities did mention that there is too much water and people density is too low in Saskatchewan to spray it all. It would be better for people to protect themselves with mosquito repellent and reduce habitat around their living area.
